Trent Erik Hanek

July 25, 2003 - October 11, 2017

In the early hours of Wednesday October 11th, our dear, sweet Trent took his own life. He went to be in the arms of his father Erik and his Heavenly Father. While we reel with pain and struggle to understand, we must try to focus on the light that Trent brought into this world. His heart pulsed with kindness and love for his family and friends.

Trent had recently enrolled at Roseburg High School. He felt like he was making new friends quickly and was thrilled to be going to school with two of his cousins, but at the same time he missed his friends at Douglas High School. Trent approached his friendships with his heart on his sleeve, and his friends valued his openness and kindness.

Always preferring company to solitude, Trent spent his time both in and out of school pursuing a variety of interests, which made him a part of numerous communities. He played baseball for many years with Umpqua Valley Cal Ripkin League, he blasted the drums in percussion class, his creative mind enjoyed drawing and writing. Outdoors he relished the time spent crabbing at the coast, fishing, and camping with his grandparents and cousins. Of course he also just liked to play video games or simply talk and hang out. He was curious, compassionate and eager for love. His latest thoughts about the future swung between video game programming and writing novels.

May we all find some sense of solace and comfort with friends and loved ones as we recount the beautiful memories of his time with us.

All are invited to attend a vigil and gathering of friends on Sunday, October 15, at Riverbend Park in Winston, Oregon at 1:00 PM.

Memorial Services for close family and friends will be held on Sunday, October 22, 2017 at 3:00 pm at Winston Community Baptist Church in Winston, Oregon.  If you are sending flowers please have them delivered to the church or to Taylor's Family Mortuary.
