Thomas Alan Goodemote (born April 16, 1940), also known Mr. G, Mr. Goodegoat and the Bracelet Man won his battle with ALS (Lou Gerhig's Disease) Saturday, March 30, 2013, as he took his last breath on Earth and his first breath in Heaven. He was much loved and is survived by his wife of 52 years Charlene Margaret Goodemote, daughters Dora Lynnette Davis and her husband Arthur, and Kathleen Ruth Mickey and her husband Walter, five grandchildren Walter Mickey and his wife Kelsey, Rachel Davis, Tomi Mickey, Kodi Mickey and Dakota Mickey, and one great-granddaughter Kaitlin Mickey. Tom is also survived by his siblings James Goodemote, John Goodemote, Lois Albert, Rebecca Canfield, Deborah Tanguay and Mark Goodemote. Tom was predeceased by his brothers David and Phillip Goodemote. He was a much loved uncle to many nieces and nephews. Tom served four years in the US Navy during the Cuban Missile Crisis (his final days were spent being cared for by the medical staff of the Roseburg VA Medical Center). After being discharged, he worked as a mechanic and a carpenter and then returned to college becoming an elementary school teacher having taught and influenced the lives of our community's children for 26 years at Glide Elementary School. Tom had a passion for helping others, warming hearts and creating smiles with his many poems, songs, stories and bracelets that he shared with all until the very end. A celebration of Tom's life will be held Saturday, April 13, 2013, at 11:00am at the North Roseburg Evangelical Free Church.
