Terry Albert Mooney, age 72, of Roseburg, Oregon, passed away on July 31, 2026, at Peace Health
Riverbend Medical Center in Springfield, Oregon. He was born April 4, 1954, to parents Ray D and Mary
Mooney. Days after graduating from Burlington Edison High School, Washington in 1973, he entered the
US Navy starting his 1973-1977 tour of duty abroad the USS Flint AE-32 for 3 WestPac assignments that
included operation frequent wind evacuation of personnel and refugees from Saigon and the release of
SS Mayaguez from Cambodia in the Gulf of Thailand.
Terry was a devoted husband of 52 years to Linda, a loving father to Christine with Carl and Joshua with
Shaya, a proud grandfather to Makeias and Azelyn, Branden with Jenessa, and proud great-grandfather
to Kadri, Nikolai, and Olivia.
Terry had a lifelong focus on his family, his Country and his community, usually finding connections to all
three intertwined through his participation in his chosen service groups: Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Little
League, OR Diabetes Assoc., Winston Lion's Club, American Legion Honor Guard, Winston VFW,
Roseburg VFW, Wreaths Across America, National Veteran Awareness Ride, VVA Chapter 805 past
president, Patriot Guard Riders Southern Oregon District Co-Captain. His qualities of industriousness,
ingenuity, resourcefulness and creativity served him well. Quick to fit into any situation, openness to
experiences and ease at making friends gave him endless topics to feed his gift for gab and stories. Terry
taught the importance of balance and appreciation of natural order, showing gratitude for the gift of life
and appreciation of mortality.
Military Honors and service will be held at 3 p.m., on Aug. 24, 2026, at Roseburg National Cemetery
Annex Commitment Shelter then a Celebration of Life with BBQ will follow immediately at Stewart Park
Pavillion with everyone invited.
