Obituary

Steven Leon David, a man of faith in God through Jesus Christ, born December 1 st , 1958, went HOME to Heaven on June 3 rd , 2017 surrounded by his loving family. He leaves behind a great legacy that will impact many generations to come. Steven is survived his wife Tami; his daughters, Brooke David and Bethany (and husband, Daniel) Jeremiah of Roseburg, Oregon; his grandchildren, Kiersten and Kylee Haines, Kingston and Roman Jeremiah of Roseburg, Oregon; his father Homer David (and wife, Dorothy) of Winston, Oregon; sister Carolyn David of Roseburg; brother Melvin David (and wife, Kimberly) of Roseburg; and many other family members with which he was blessed. He was preceded in death by his son Brandon in 1999; and mother Barbara in 2010.

Steven learned the trade of floor covering from his Uncle Denver at a young age. He then went on to teach the trade to many other members of his family, including his brother Melvin. He continued installing for many years while also serving as a Pastor until he retired from floor covering to devote more time to pastoring. Steven was called into the pastoral ministry as a teenager at summer church camp. He pastored for 32 years, with the last 22 of those years at the Roseburg Church of God of Prophecy. During his pastoral ministry, he was ordained as a Bishop. He was actively involved in the church camping ministries in various roles from cabin leader to coordinator, and he also taught a children's Sunday School class, as youth and children were incredibly important to him. So much so that he spent a few years working in the local juvenile shelter.

You didn't have to be around Steven very long to know how much he loved his God, his family, and his Oregon Ducks. He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed playing just as much as watching. Through the years, he played on various basketball, softball, and volleyball teams. Steven also loved camping with his family at Sunset Bay, watching his children and grandchildren participate in sports, dance, and even jump rope. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his dad and brother. Steven really enjoyed gardening, yard work, and spring cleaning. Organization was very important to him, just ask those around him that ever messed with the tithe envelopes, pens, books on his bookshelves, or the chairs in the church!

Our lives have been forever changed from knowing this strong, kind, compassionate, loving man.
