M. Ruth Howell, age 87, of Riddle, Or., went to be with the Lord on June 29th, 2012. She was born in Jagger, Alabama on Dec. 10th, 1924 to James and Mary Rollins. She married Lester (Smokey) Howell on June 26th 1948 in Aberdeen, Mississippi. They came to Oregon in 1948 and made there home in Riddle Oregon. Ruth was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, and working her cross-word puzzle books. Ruth is survived by her loving husband, Smokey, of 64 years; her daughter Renee Cloud and husband Dan of Riddle, Or., and her grandchildren Amber Reedy and husband Shawn of Myrtle Creek, Or., Ashley VanDoren of Roseburg, Or., Alyssa VanDoren also of Roseburg, Or., and Miranda Cloud of Sheridan, Or. Ruth is also survived by 9 great-grandchildren: Tray, Haylee, Brayden, Cody, Jerrod, Mahayla, Aaliyah, Tabor, and Riana. Ruth is also survived by one brother Jack Rollins in Alabama. Graveside services will be held Tues. July 3rd 2012 at 1:00pm at the Riddle Cemetery. The Family would like to extend a special thank you to Amedisys Home Health, Mercy Hospice and nurse Debbie Mills-Price for the special care provided to Ruth and her family during this difficult time.
