Robert Thomas Cole, Age 82, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 24, 2016, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born September 3, 1933, in Malta, Montana, to Thomas William Cole and Juanita Tanner Cole. He moved to Glide, Oregon, in 1947, where he attended Glide High School. In 1951, he joined the U.S. Navy, where he spent time on the USS Princeton during the Korean War. In 1955, he went to work for Roseburg Forest Products, where he was an electrician for 44 years, before he retired. The most important things in his life were spending time with his family, helping others, and traveling. He loved seeing different parts of the world. One of his true passions was auto racing, where he shared a very special relationship with is son-in-law, Steve Woods, as part of the Woods racing team for the past three years. If he wasn't at a local track, he was home watching Jeff Gordon on NASCAR. He was a devoted father, grandfather, brother and friend to many.

He is survived by his children, Kathy and Bob Anderson of Portland, OR, Michelle and Steve Woods of Sutherlin, OR, Angela Boyter and Bill Bond of Winston, OR, and Christopher Cole and Jenny Wright of Roseburg, OR; three sisters Lynetta Smith of Roseburg, OR, Juanita and Ernie Kingery of Roseburg, Nora Bright Aere of Blodgett, Oregon; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Robert was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Toni Leanne Fielding.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 29, 2016, at Winston Community Center, at 10 a.m. A private family burial will follow at Tenmile Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Taylors.
