Richard A. (Dick) Grabinski October 16, 1931 - November 20, 2012 On October 19, 2012 Dick was diagnosed with acute leukemia and fought courageously so that he could remain with his family. Our Lord did not want him to suffer and continually be in pain. Dick was born in Ravensdale, Washington to Fernande and Philip Grabinski. He was the second oldest of five boys. Phillip (Mary), Kenneth (Jane), Warren (Leslie), and Roger (Joanne). He was preceded in death by Phillip. When Dick was in grade school his family moved to Portland, Oregon. He graduated from Washington High School and attended Portland State University before entering the Navy and serving during the Korean Conflict. On June 14, 1958 Dick married Geraldine Dennis of Lebanon Oregon who survives him. They have two children, Amelia (Amy) and Allan and three grandchildren, Heather, Nicholas and Linus. Dick and his family moved to Roseburg in 1971, and in 2010 he and Geraldine moved to Yoncalla to be closer to their children.. Dick spent the first portion of his career in industrial sales and then retired from Roseburg Forest Products. But his professional passion in life was first sports officiating and then theater. He umpired and officiated many games in Portland during the 1950's and then in Southern Oregon in the 1970's and 80's. After "retiring" from sports, Dick became an active member of UACT and had the lead in many plays in the 1980's and 1990's performing at both UCC and the Betty Long Unruh theater. Dick always considered acting his true profession. Dick was a member of DeMolay at the Sunnyside Masonic Lodge in Portland. He became a member of that lodge when he reached 21 and was the DeMolay Dad Advisor for many years. After moving to Roseburg he became a life member of Laurel Lodge 13. He is a past master of the Laurel Lodge and held several different state Masonic offices as well.
