Richard D. Arnett passed away on Sunday, December 2, 2012 at his home in Roseburg, Oregon. He was born on the 11th of July, 1931 in Klamath Falls, Oregon to Leslie Paul and Helen Chiquita Green Arnett. Richard was the only son and the baby of the family of three children. The family moved to Crescent City, California during his high school years. Richard was a man of many talents. He broke his first horse at the age of nine, went to college at the age of 37 and learned computer programming. He also worked for Sargent Engineering in the prototype division and thus was kept out of the service because of his employment. He was a Conductor on the OC&E Railroad and retired from there after several accidents and surgeries after 25 years. Richard then went to driving semi-trucks and logging trucks. He also managed RV and mobile home parks. Richard was accomplished at all he did and always gave each job his best. He has lived in Oregon, California, Arizona and Washington. He has hunted and fished the lakes all over these states. He loved to read and enlarge his knowledge of all things, especially the things of Heavenly Father after he joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Richard also loved genealogy. Richard was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Marilyn Joan Holden Arnett, a son Jonathan Scott Furness, a daughter Jennifer Ruth Arnett Owings, and three grandchildren, Robert and Mariah Mathia and William Furness. Richard Dean Arnett is survived by his sister Bonnie Williams of Crescent City, California; sister Pauline Icenbice and her husband Leo Icenbice from Klamath Falls; wife Carolyn Jean Parkinson Arnett; son Leslie Paul Arnett II and his wife Ruth from Boise, Idaho; daughter Claudia Jean Long and her husband Craig Jay Long, Sr. from Klamath Falls, Oregon; daughter Michelle Rene Calvert and her husband Brian Calvert from Kennewick, Washington; daughter Deborah Alora Furness Dunlap and her husband Steven E. Dunlap from Bellevue, Washington; daughter Tracy Lee Furness Mathia and her husband V. Leonard Mathia, who is also Richard's foster son, from Colfax, Washington; son James Christian Furness from Pasco, Washington; son Thomas Wesley Furness from Myrtle Creek, Oregon; son Michael Bruce and his wife Gidget from Lynnwood, Washington; son Joseph Gene Furness from Everett, Washington; daughter Aimee Lynne Furness Shaw and her husband Troy E. Shaw from Redmond, Washington; and daughter Melissa Karen Furness Barrett from Snohomish, Washington. Richard is beloved and sorely missed by 11 children, 41 grandchildren and 57 great-grandchildren, his two sister, brother-in-law, and many nieces, nephews and cousins and dear friends. A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, December 8, 2012 from 9:30 to 11:15 a.m., another viewing will be held at the church from 12 noon to 12:45 p.m. with services following at 1:00 p.m. at the Winston Ward of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Interment will be on Monday, December 10, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Eternal Hills Cemetery in Klamath Falls, Oregon.
