Raymond Richie Massey, born October 15, 1923, passed from this life on Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at the age of 93.

As a World War II Veteran, Raymond served our country and fought for our freedom. The world has lost a hero, we will be forever grateful for his service. He had guardian angels who kept him safe in the trenches of battle; one actually appearing in a photo with him.

Raymond was preceded in death by his sons, Jimmy Ray Massey and Danny Raymond Massey.

Raymond is survived by his wife of 30 years, Marlyn Jeane Massey, his daughter, Linda Whorrall, grandchildren, Justin Geyer, Stacie Smith and her husband Richard, great grandsons, Emmitt and Wyatt Smith. Daughter-in-law Margerate Massey, grandchildren Brian Massey and Kristi Maxwell, great granddaughter Heather and great-great granddaughter Alana Jade. Step-children who he loved like his own, Wayne Parker, Robert Parker and Betty Aboytes; their spouses Kerry Parker, Janelle Parker and Jesus Aboytes; grandchildren Ruste Parker, Cody Parker, Amber Parker Kope, Robin Parker Jaime, Brianna Aboytes and Vicente Aboytes; and great-grandchildren, Ashton, Brindley and Price Jenkins, Coral Parker, Robert, Benjamin and Felix Jaime.

Raymond was born in Maude, Ok and as a child, he lived through the Great Depression. As an adult he moved to California spending many years in Salinas and Freedom, before moving to Roseburg, Oregon in 2005.

Raymond spent his career as a highly skilled mechanic and was often sought after for his expertise and problem solving abilities . He enjoyed the mechanical challenges while helping others repair their machines and cars.

Raymond was a kind, gentle family man. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and helping Wayne in the vineyards. Ray and Marlyn enjoyed many firsts together; they both enjoyed vacationing, and spent many years traveling in their motor home while visiting family. He was laid to rest with military honors at the Roseburg National Cemetery.

Raymond was a wonderful husband, dad, and grandpa, who will be greatly missed. We love you!
