Obituary

Raymond Jacob Fox passed away on Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at the age of 92. Raymond was born March 5, 1917 in St. Paul, Minnesota to John and Anna (Ohrt). The family moved to Roseburg in 1932. In 1940, he married Marjorie K. Hickman at the Glide Baptist Church. Marjorie preceded him in death in 1984. Raymond worked in the shipyards during WWII, welding on the Liberty Ships at Bremerton, Washington. After the war he worked as a nurses aid at the Roseburg VA Medical Center for over 40 years on the night shift. He also drove school bus for 30 years for the Roseburg School District. He enjoyed lively political discussions, (especially with his brothers), fishing at Fish Lake with his brothers and kids, many bus trips to Reno, The Price is Right, and going to the Winston Senior Center. He is survived by his son Ray Fox and his wife Mary; daughter Kay and her husband Larry Edmonson, daughter Pennie and her husband Marc Zurcher; grandsons, Randy Fox, Rod Fox, Ryan fox, Brandon Fox, Chris Zurcher, Matt Zurcher, Jim Fox, Greg Fox, Jeff Edmonson; granddaughters, Angie Fox O'Hara, Jill Edmonson (DeLoach); 20 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren and special friend Wyvonia Jones. Raymond was preceded in death by his wife Marjorie Fox, son John Fox, grandson Rick Fox and granddaughter Baby Edmonson; brothers, Earnest Fox, Frank Fox and sister Loretta Buffington. The family would like to especially thank Sarah and Cynthia, and the caregivers at Manor House and Janine Ohm as well as Denise Owens from Amedysis Hospice for your loving care.
