Patrick James Murphy of Roseburg, Oregon passed away on Saturday, April 21, 2012, after a 10 month battle with melanoma. Pat was born October 31, 1977 in Roseburg, Oregon. He graduated from Roseburg High School in 1996. On June 29, 2002, Pat was united in marriage to Abigail (Abbie) Sahr. Pat was an amazing father, husband, and son. Patrick touched the lives of many. His kindness and resourcefulness was felt by everyone around him. He was loyal to his family and friends, and did not hesitate to help, in any way he could, when called upon. But mostly, Pat had a sense of humor, whether directed at others or himself, that will long be remembered. Patrick had a love for motor sports, riding at the sand dunes, hunting, and fishing. He worked tirelessly around his home and farm. Patrick was an active member of the community; he and Abbie lead a local 4-H chapter. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Patrick is survived by his loving wife Abbie, his three children Amelia, Aubrey, and Aiden, his parents Dennis and Arden, of Roseburg; his brother John, sister-in-law Emily, two nephews, Connor and Keaton, and niece Ava, of Winston, and his grandparents Stan and Vi Cornutt, Roseburg and grandfather Philip J. Murphy, of Myrtle Creek, a man who had a special place in Pat's heart. Also surviving are his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Randy and Sandy Sahr; brother-in-law Tyler, wife Lorell, and nephews Zachary and Spencer Sahr of Roseburg, and sister-in-law Jennifer and her husband Peter Keyo, Canton, Connecticut, along with numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. The family will hold a private service. A public Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 28th in the Pacific Room in the building at the Douglas County Fairgrounds at 11 a.m. Both services will be officiated by Deacon John Stenbeck. A reception will immediately follow. We want to thank Dr. Thomas Trezona and his staff, Springfield, Or., for the care and compassion they showed Pat the past several months. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Patrick's memory, to the Roseburg Community Cancer Center Foundation, 2880 Northwest Stewart Parkway, Suite 100, Roseburg, Oregon 97471, or Mercy Hospice at 2400 Stewart Parkway, Suite 200, Roseburg, Oregon, 97471.
