Nora Lee Barber Hicks, the last of her generation in her family, died Thursday, July 15, 2010, in Roseburg, Oregon, at the age of 94 years, 9 months, and 27 days. Nora Lee was born on September 18, 1915, in Bevin, Pushmataha Co., Oklahoma, to John Miles Barber and Odie Lee Moore. When she was about 14 years old, Nora Lee moved with her family to Kendrick, Lincoln Co, Oklahoma. There she met and married Hulbert Raymond Hicks when she was 24 years old. Three months after they were married, the young couple moved to Salinas, Monterey Co., California and shortly after moved to Spreckels, Monterey Co., California where the family lived for 60 years. Nora Lee was a Food Inspector, in the frozen food industry for approximately 35 years. For the last few years, Nora Lee has resided in Canyonville, Oregon. Nora Lee is survived by her five Children: Fronicia Hicks Herrick, of Granite Bay, California; Patricia Hicks Taylor of Charlottesville, Virginia; Raymond Hicks of Elk Grove, California; Marvia Louise Hicks Horning, of Warrensburg, Missouri; and Gene Edward Hicks, of Days Creek, Oregon; 10 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren. Her husband preceded her in death. A Memorial Service will be held for Nora Lee Barber Hicks at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, July 20, 2010, at the Forest Glen Senior Residence, Canyonville, Oregon. Nora Lee will be missed by her family and friends.
