MYLES FREDERICK MUIR, JR. 1924-2010 Because the time you spent with me has now come to an end, Allow me a short while to allow my heart to mend. But rest assured, your spirit will be with me all my days Both here and then here after, forever and always. Myles Muir passed away at home on Feb. 15, 2010 with his loving wife Josephine by his side. She had cared for him constantly during his last days and was with him to the end. Myles was born on July 6, 1924 in Ann Arbor, Mich. to Myles Sr. and Beatrice Muir. He moved to Santa Monica in 1944 . After attending UCLA and over the next 60 years, he worked at a variety of jobs including Northrup, Crestview Cadillac, Sears and Roebuck, Industrial Measurements, owned Ted's Liquor in Pomona and his own real estate company. One of his many hobbies was time spent as a rock hound, poking around old gold mines, and actually made money at it. While doing so, he developed a gas engine-powered dry sluice box to separate the gold from the ore. He loved to do landscaping and yard work and was an avid animal lover. He loved to go for long brisk walks. While in college, he mastered charcoal drawing and rendering. For a short time, he was in a barbershop quartet as a fine baritone. He would be the one in church that you would hear from 10 rows away. Later in life, Myles and Josephine enjoyed travelling to Slab City, CA and camping in the desert. He is survived by Josephine, her daughter Lisa and husband Craig and family, her son Joey and wife Lorraine and family, his daughter Joan and husband Jerome, his daughter Beth and mate Scott and her son Derek, son Michael and his mate Toni, brothers Peter and Howard Reindel and Dean Muir. He is predeceased by first wife Dorothy, his parents, and stepfather Howard Reindel, Sr. In lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations be made to the Visiting Nurses Association of Southern California, (888)357-3574.
