Obituary

Michael Deady Farrer was born on December 3, 1940, in Healdsburg, California. Mike grew up in Boonville, California, the son of Eva Wilkin Farrer and John Deady Farrer. In 1957, he met his future bride, Sharon Adair Douglas, while their parents were taking square dancing lessons in Boonville. He graduated from Anderson Valley High School in 1958. Mike and Sharon were married in 1960 at the ages of 19 and 16. Soon thereafter, Franklin Duane and Michael Dannette were born. Mike drove logging trucks throughout Northern California, moving his young family where jobs could be found. In 1968, the Farrer family moved to Myrtle Point, Oregon, as Mike took a job as a diesel mechanic. He loved to hunt, fish and camp. In 1976, the family moved to Coos Bay as he found the business he always dreamed of: owning Empire Sport Shop and Gold Coast Products, allowing him to be close to the ocean. In 2017, Andrea May and Tammy Grace joined the Farrer family via adoption. In 2018, the Farrers moved to Winston, Oregon, to be close to family. Mike passed away on January 31, 2020 in Roseburg, Oregon.

Mike is survived by wife Sharon Farrer, daughter Michael Friedlein and husband David, daughters Andrea Farrer and Tammy Farrer, daughter-in-law Lyn Farrer, grandchildren Brittany Daugherty and husband Jason, Shaina Farrer, Joshua Friedlein and wife Chloe, Hannah Friedlein and great-grandson Simon Daugherty.

Mike was preceded in death by his son, Franklin Duane Farrer, father John Deady Farrer, and mother Eva Wilkin Farrer.

A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church in Coos Bay on Wednesday, February 5, 2020, at 2:00 pm, with pastor Ron Moore officiating. Final interment will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Boonville, California on Saturday, February 8, 2020.
