PADILLA, MAUREEN JOYCE (née MULLINS)

Maureen Joyce Padilla, 81, of Roseburg, OR, passed away February 26th, 2024, at 9:10 pm, following a years-long battle with Lewy Body disease. Maureen was born in Klamath Falls, OR, in 1942, to Morris A. "Moon" Mullins and Mary Janet Mullins (née Walters). The family lived in Bly, OR, until 1945 when they moved to Sutherlin, OR. Maureen graduated from Sutherlin High School in 1960 and attended the University of Oregon and Umpqua Community College. She worked as a legal secretary in Sutherlin, OR, Roseburg, OR, and Albuquerque, NM, then worked in the securities industry from 1979-2002 when she retired from Salomon Smith Barney. Following retirement, she volunteered at Mercy Medical Center for several years as an Escort and on the Information Desk. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, past president of Douglas County Legal Secretaries Association, St. Joseph Altar Society, and St. Joseph School Board; served on the Parish Council at St. Joseph Church, was an officer of St. Joseph School Parents' Club, was a Cub Scout Den Mother, and was a former member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha and Mercy Medical Center Auxiliary. On June 12, 1965, in her parents' home in Sutherlin, she married Joseph Padilla who survives her. She is also survived by their first-born son, Stephen, his wife, Judi, of San Antonio, TX, their daughter Eli, and Judi's daughters, Tori, Krissi, and Jessie; their second-born son, Drew, and his partner, Kendra, of San Francisco, CA; brothers John Mullins and his wife, Kris, of Roseburg, OR, and Pat Mullins and his wife, Nancy,
of Myrtle Creek, OR; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and their children.

She was there when her sons took their first breath and they were with her when she took her last. She was preceded in death by her father, Morris "Moon" Mullins, in 1990, and her mother, Janet Mullins Hall, in 2008. Recitation of the Rosary will be Thursday, March 7, 2024  at 11:30AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Roseburg. A memorial Mass will be celebrated by Fr. Manuel, also at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Roseburg Thursday, March 7, 2024 at 12:10PM. Private cremation rites have been held. Maureen requested that there be no floral gifts. Rather, she hoped that those who could would make donations in her memory to the Shriner's Hospital for Children, 3101 SW Sam Jackson Park Rd., Portland, OR 97239, 971-282-4606; or the Mercy Foundation, 2700 NW Stewart Parkway, Roseburg, OR 97471, 541-677-4818.
