Mary Caroline Peterson 72, of Roseburg Oregon passed away Feb 23, 2010 surrounded by family at Mercy Medical Center in Roseburg, OR. Mary was born February 10, 1936 in Ravensdale, WA to Sherman and Mae Walker, where she spent most of her childhood. Her family moved to Seward, Alaska, where she went to most of her high school. At one point in high school, she traveled with a group of fellow high students to Seward, Nebraska. She then moved to Oregon where she graduated from Roseburg High School in 1956. She was married to Dewey 'Pete' Peterson on March 3, 1958 in Grants Pass, OR. In the more than 50 years to follow, they lived first in Oregon, moving from Alaska to Montana, then back to Oregon. She is survived by her husband Dewey Peterson. Her daughter Tracy Loomis and grandsons Vance and Kyle Loomis, and great grandson Brayton. Her son Scott Peterson, daughter-in-law Sonja, grandson Zachary, granddaughters Chelsea, Nicole, and Savannah Peterson. Mary enjoyed being outdoors with her family. Camping, hunting, and fishing were things she enjoyed doing and even preparing for. Reading and crossword puzzles were some of her pastimes. Mary took great pleasure in spending time with her grandkids, cherishing every moment. She spent many afternoons and weekends attending grandkids practices and games. She always found excuses to plan events that involved the family. Her frequent shopping trips always involved buying items for an upcoming family get together and special things for all family members. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers John and Norman Walker and her unnamed infant son. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2010 at 11:00 am at Taylor's Family Mortuary in Winston, Oregon. Private interment will be at the Civil Bend Pioneer Cemetery in Winston, Oregon.
