Myrtle Creek

Obituary

Mark Francis Moore passed away at his home in Myrtle Creek, Oregon, Thursday, Feb. 22, 2024. He was 66 years old. Born in Oakland, California, on May 16, 1957, and a lifelong Raiders fan, he was the only child of Francis and Dorothy (Williford). Fran and Dot didn't plan on having children and never let Mark forget he was a happy accident. "Every year on my birthday they would remind me," Mark would say with a laugh.

Mark and his parents moved to South Myrtle in the summer between his 8th and 9th grade year, where they built a house and raised cattle on their ranch. Mark graduated from South Umpqua High School in 1975, as vice president of the automotive club. After high school, he attended college earning a degree in refrigeration. Mark worked for several employers in the Myrtle Creek area before spending over 30 years with Roseburg Forest Products at plant 4 before he retired in 2018.

Those that met Mark would say he was charismatic, intelligent, well spoken, driven and a man of his word whose handshake was just as good as, or better than a signed contract. Many have said he was "just a great guy."

Mark married Kari Zenchenko in 1984, though they later divorced. Their first child Jessica, was born in 1986, and a second daughter Kira, was born in 1989. Mark was an active and loving father. If you were to ask him what he was most proud of he would say "my girls." He was a quick wit, a remarkable storyteller, and regularly had his daughters laughing. His daughters learned that they were not above having pranks pulled on them and were often the subject of his plotting. Mark inherited his father's love of firearms and taught his girls how to shoot and gun safety. They have fun memories of shooting Halloween pumpkins up Cow Creek.

As a younger man, Mark enjoyed such pursuits as motorcycles, water skiing and was a certified SCUBA diver. Mark also loved fast cars. While he owned many vehicles in his lifetime, he always retained his first new vehicle, a beloved 1979 Chevy Silverado. His last vehicle purchased mere weeks before his death was a long wanted yellow Mustang he named Bumblebee.

Mark is predeceased by his parents Francis and Dorothy. He is survived by his daughters Jessica Moore and Kira Moore, both of Roseburg, Oregon. Mark's daughters would like to extend their eternal gratitude and appreciation to his best friend Leroy McCauly of Myrtle Creek, for all the love and support he provided their father.

At Mark's wishes, no services will be held. A gathering will be held in May hosted by his girls.
