Obituary

Margeret Lillian Rateau was born to Jacque Peter Rateau and Freda Marie Rateau (Casey), on May 18, 1942, in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. When she was 10 she moved with her parents to Fontana, California. She married Neil William Tarbell (Sr.) at 18 years of age and soon became pregnant with her daughter, Michelle. Two years later she was pregnant with her 2nd and final child, a son, Neil William Tarbell Jr.

On Thursday, April 21, 2016, after a brave battle with cancer, surrounded by her family and close friends, she went home to be with our Lord and Savior. Margeret was preceded in death by her parents; her sister Diane Riehl; her brothers John Rateau and David Rateau; and her grandson Matthew Stewart.

One of Margerets greatest accomplishments was learning how to read. As a new Christian, she prayed to God to teach her how to read. Through tutoring from her husband and by years of reading along while bible teachers read scriptures, she overcame her challenges in reading. Her favorite bible teachers were Chuck Smith, Charles Swindoll and David Jeremiah. She loved gardening, her bible study groups, personal bible study, and prayer. She worked for 26 years at Pomona Valley Medical Center, later becoming a coordinator in Sterile Processing and ultimately retiring from Mercy Medical Center in their Sterile Processing Dept.

She is survived by Neil W. Tarbell Sr., her devoted husband of 54 years; her daughter Michelle Brillon, and husband Jay Brillon of Roseburg, OR; her son Neil Tarbell Jr., who resides in Southern CA; her sisters Lilly Carlson and Louise Martin; her brothers Paul Rateau and Peter Rateau; her beloved grandkids Aaron Grina, his fiancé Summer Atkinson,  Christian Tarbell, Tasia Germond, Levi Stewart and Desiree Stewart; and cherished greatgrandchildren Talia, Alyssa and Seth. Also her many loved nephews, nieces, beloved Aunts and cousins. Her beloved sisters in Christ, Sharon Beamer, Ann Havens and family, Kirk and Tasha. As well as her beloved friend Darleen Johnson and others who shared deep friendships with Margeret.

Her smiling face and Christian spirit will be missed by all who knew her. She was a devoted, loving wife, mother, sister, and a friend to many. She has followed Christ for 50 years. Her greatest desire has been honoring Gods word in all things, in being a witness to others, and that her loved ones would all be saved. Viewing will be at Taylor's Mortuary, in Winston, OR on Wednesday, April 27, 2016, from 3 p.m.- 5 p.m.  A Celebration of Life, followed by a potluck, will be on Saturday, April 30, 2016, from 5 p.m.- 7 p.m. at New Hope Church, 5995 Old Highway 99 S, Roseburg, OR 97471.
