Lois Vivian Hanson Beloved mother, grandmother and friend passed away peacefully on August 31, 2011 at her Myrtle Creek home. Lois was born in Nyssa, Oregon on February 25, 1935 to Bryant and Elsie Reagor and was raised in the Pacific Northwest along with her brother Jerry. Lois graduated from Eugene High School in 1953 after which she met and married her life love Russell Earle Hanson. Russ and Lois moved to Myrtle Creek as Russ had taken a job with Hanna Nickel Mining in 1955. The Hanson's were blessed with three children Bryant, Vicki and Laura who were the center of Lois' world. Lois was a dedicated and loving mother and wife; being very creative- Lois was an excellent seamstress and cook. She enjoyed canning, camping, dancing and providing a stimulating and colorful environment for her children and their peers. Many a local child or teenager could be found at the Hanson Home ..a magnet for fun, laughter & shenanigans at which Lois was always the center. Lois was a campfire girl leader for many years. Lois joined the workforce in 1972, working for Roseburg Forest Products until health issues forced an early retirement. Her coworkers missed her frequent pranks and hilarious antics, always keeping people laughing while having a quality work ethic that compared to few. After leaving RFP, Lois started classes at UCC where she developed a passion for the arts; painting and music as well as writing. Dancing always a passion of Lois' became a vehicle that kept her socially and physically active. Lois became a member of a singles group and the Eagles Club. A member of The Red Hat Society, Lois was always initiating events and activities to bring friends and family together. No matter the physical limitations she encountered, Lois never slowed down and amazed everyone at her zeal for life and love. Generous and kind, loved by all, Lois did not know a stranger. Widowed in 1982, Lois remarried Buck Weakley in 1984 and later divorced in 1993. Lois is preceded in death by her husband Russell Hanson, parents Bryant and Elsie Reagor. Lois is survived by her brother Jerry Reagor of Kelso WA, her children: Bryant (Janet) Hanson of Roswell, NM; Vicki (John) Stanfield of Myrtle Creek, OR; Laura (David) Garren of Winston, OR; seven grandchildren : Bryanna Byrd, Brandon Hanson, Cole Carter, Dylan Carter, Laura Perrin, Jennifer Cantwell, Logan Garren, nine great grand children & loyal feline companion- "Kittle". A celebration of Lois' life will be held on September 17th at 12:30 pm @ Myrtle Creek Evergreen Park. Please wear a red hat to honor Lois, bring a lawn chair and join us in celebrating the life of this amazing women. A pot luck luncheon will follow - side dishes welcome.
