Leonard Franklin Scott, 83 of Myrtle Creek, Oregon passed away on January 18, 2025 with his family by his side after a long battle of dementia.

Leonard was born to Albert and Elsie Scott on April 8, 1941 in Pleasant Grove, Arkansas.  He grew up on his family's farm in Mountain View, Arkansas raising pigs and cattle and riding his favorite mule, Red.

In November 1959, Leonard joined the United States Army where he served for 3 years (including 13 months in Germany) and was honorably discharged in November 1962.

He traveled to Oregon to pick up his car from a family friend's home with plans to return to Arkansas but decided to stay until the following spring. He was hired at Stomar Lumber Co. (which later became Roseburg Forest Products) and then met the love of his life Deloris (Cobb). They were married on February 1, 1964 in Glendale, Oregon and made their home in Canyonville, Oregon where they raised their son Donald.  Leonard and Deloris were married for 60 wonderful years and enjoyed living in the Canyonville / Myrtle Creek area.

Leonard continued to work for Roseburg Forest Products at Plywood Plant #4 in Riddle, Oregon for 40 years without ever missing a single day of work.  He was awarded 'Employee of the Year' in 1993 and Retired in August 2002.  He and his wife continued to raise cattle together and he enjoyed going on horse trail rides, hunting and fishing in Oregon.  He also enjoyed his annual trips to Wyoming to spend time with and go hunting with his son, daughter-in-law and granddaughters.

He is survived by his wife, Deloris Scott of Oregon; son, Donald (Michelle) Scott of Wyoming; three grandchildren: Steven (Brandy) Simons of Oregon, Megan (Zachary Lybrand) Scott of Wyoming, and Sarah Scott of Wyoming; four great-grandchildren: James, Thomas, Osiris and Leo Simons of Oregon. He is also survived by his three sisters: Wanda Simmons of Arkansas, Zelma Williams of Oregon and Nina McKinney of Wisconsin along with numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Elsie Scott; and older half siblings.

Funeral services and Interment will be held on January 27, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. at the Roseburg National Cemetery. Military Honors will be conducted.
