Larry Lynch was born on Dec. 31, 1945, to Ted and Mary (McIssac) Lynch in San Francisco, California. He passed away peacefully on Sept. 11, 2026, surrounded by his family at the log home he built in Upper Olalla, Oregon.

Larry attended Catholic school and graduated high school in 1963. He attended San Jose State University for three years and then graduated from University of Oregon. From 1974 - 1985 Larry planted trees and went on to be a founding member of the Golden Rockets. After graduating from the U of O, with honors, Larry worked as a lumber broker for American International Forest Products. His exceptional skills with numerical calculations gave him a reputation for being one bad ass mathematician. He retired from AIFP in 2008.

Larry loved the great outdoors and became an activist, advocate, volunteer caretaker and fundraiser on behalf of Iverson Park. He gathered a group dedicated to saving and preserving the land and infrastructure of this historic park located in Douglas County, Oregon. He was elected President of Friends of Iverson Park and later was unanimously elected as president Emeritus. He loved Iverson Park and worked to improve and protect the park for future generations to enjoy.

Larry is survived by his loving wife Shawnee, his children Kevin Johnson, Aaron Yaskin (LaViva), Kalico Lynch (Ty) Jessie Lynch (April), and Sarah Lynch Marble (James); his granddaughters Nami, Grace, Nola, and Kamellia; his grandsons Kaelin, Diego, Dorje, and Kaleb and his siblings Mary, Carol, Don and Bob Lynch. Larry was preceded in passing by his parents, his twin sister Lilian, his older brother Ted, and his granddaughter Caryl. Larry was known, and will be remembered far and wide, for his kind, generous and loving nature. He was always there for others. A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 27, 2026. Immediate family and friends will meet at Iverson Park to share memories, readings, and music; please bring a chair. Following that everyone is welcome to attend a potluck at Girardet Winery from 2 to 5 p.m.
