Joan Elizabeth Prowell, of Roseburg, Oregon, Went home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, May 14, 2011, at the age of 67. She was born on February 16, 1944, to parents, Smith and Jessie (Householder) Prowell. Joan was one of 11 children. She is survived by her siblings, Tom Prowell, of Portland Oregon; Norene Reece, of Springfield, Oregon; Betty Lockwood and husband, Larry, of Roseburg, and Bob Prowell and wife, Madonna, of Roseburg, numerous nieces and nephews, and a special friend, Brian. Joan will be remembered always for her sense of humor and as a Christian who loved God and attended numerous churches throughout the years. She loved arts and crafts, her family and friends and her kitty "Purdy". Joan attended Parkrose school. She worked at Sunrise Enterprise, Next to New shop, and cleaned state offices. Joan was preceded in death by her parents, Smith and Jessie Prowell; brothers, Virgil Prowell, Ellis Prowell, James Prowell, and Smith (JR)Prowell; sisters, Louise (Prowell) Davis, and Mary (Prowell) Lynch. Memorial services will be held Friday, May 20, 2011, at 1 p.m. at Vine Street Baptist Church 2152 NE Vine Pastor Rick Hahn officiating. A gathering will be held to celebrate Joan's life at her home 4628 SW Carnes Road immediately following, and a viewing will be held from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Taylor's Chapel that evening. Arrangements under the direction of Taylor's chapel. Private internment to follow.
