Janice Kay Witt went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at the age of 70 after a long illness. She was born on October 26, 1943 in Roseburg, Oregon to parents Howard and Wilma (Shinn) Harty. On February 24, 1959 Janice was united in marriage to the love of her life Carl Witt. Jan was a waitress for many years, working at the Dillard Steakhouse, Treasure House and Karen's Coffee Cup. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She played Bunco for many years, helped organize her class reunions (class of 1961 Douglas High), Jan was a social butterfly. She also enjoyed her church, Renewed Ministries, and was an active member when able. Jan had a servants heart even through her long illness. She was drawn to the beach in Bandon, collecting sea glass, sea shells, and agates. Jan was loved by all. She was preceded in death by her father Howard, Brother Cliff and nephew Doug. Jan is survived by her loving husband Carl; mother Wilma; four children, Karla and husband Danny Harris, Jimmy and wife Sheri Witt, Tina and husband Joe Stewart, Jerry and wife Lisa Witt; brothers and sisters, Nancy, Bob, Linda, Pat, Joe and Margy; Five grandchildren, Jerry D., Kylee, Jess, Kirsten, Kyle, and great-grandchild Oakley; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at the Winston Community Center. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Jan's name to The American Red Cross.
