James Ross Thrush was born on February 3, 1932 to Eli and Maida (Bea) Thrush in Roseburg, Oregon. He arrived 10 minutes after his twin sister, Jeanie. Jim was raised in Camas Valley, Oregon. He lived his whole life there with the exception of his service in the Korean War, and working in Alaska for several months. Jim was a logger his whole life and even continued firewatching for Plikat Logging well past retirement. He loved being in "the woods". He married Violet Stringham on August 12, 1955, and they were married for 48 years until her passing in 2003. He leaves behind his daughter Gisela (Jill) Tucker and her husband Dennis, granddaughter Rebekka Anderson, grandson Derikk Killcy, great grandson Emery Hines, sister Rachel Jones, and his dearest and closest friend Pat Rentz. Jim was preceded in death by an infant son Robert Eli Thrush, brother Richard (Dick) Thrush, sisters Geraldine (Geri) Galla and Wanda (Jeanie) Lawson. Services will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2023 at 11 AM at the Camas Valley Missionary Church. Potluck to follow, please bring your favorite side dish.
