James W. Gibson, age 83, of Winston passed away on Wednesday, December 4, 2013. He was born on July 11, 1930 in Bunker, Missouri. James was born to Charles A. and Berti Gibson. He was married to Opal Sharp Gibson on January 15, 1949 in Pigett, Arkansas. He and his wife were the parents of seven children. James was a man of God who loved the Lord and was active in his church. He was deacon for many years in the Winston Assembly of God. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and working with his hound dogs. James leaves his wife of 65 years Opal and his children; Delois (Lonnie) Smith, Brenda (John) Brock, David (Charlotte), Charles (Jeri) and Henry (Lisa). He also leaves numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. He is survived by his sisters Shirley and Sue and brothers Amos and Harrell. He was preceded in death by two sons, James and John. A viewing will be held on Friday, December 6, 2013 from 5pm to 7pm at Taylor's Family Chapel. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2013 at 2pm at his beloved Winston Assembly of God. A potluck will follow the service. He will be laid to rest at Civil Bend Pioneer Cemetery.
