J.L. Loudermilk, of Myrtle Creek, Oregon passed away on Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at the age of 89. He was born on August 24, 1921 in Washburn, Arkansas to parents Steve and Rachel (Lewis) Loudermilk. He was born in raised in the Arkansas, Tennessee and Oklahoma areas. J.L's mother passed away when he was young (14) and he immediately left home. By age 16 he had joined the Civilian Conservation Corps and sent all of his money home to his father to help support the brothers and sisters he left behind. After the Civilian Corps, JL was drafted into the Army at age 21 and served his country during WWII. He came out of the Army as a Corporal with an honorable discharge. After the military he moved to Oregon and on December 20, 1966 he married the love of his life Dovie J. Hall. The two did everything together and had a wonderful loving relationship that was admired by many. J.L. worked as a millwright in the Douglas County area and was well known for his skills and work ethics. He also loved gardening and working on projects around the house. He was known for being able to fix anything. J.L. was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and four sisters. He is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Dovie of Myrtle Creek; son Gary L. Loudermilk of Albany; brother Henry Loudermilk of Roseville, California and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He is also survived by two great nephews he thought the world of, one of which kept a 24hr vigil at his bedside for five days, Joel Pratt and Nathan Pratt; niece Trish Hall, which drove him to most of his appointments for the past two years and a lifelong friend that was as close as any brother, Clarence Pruitt; as well as the two dogs he loved so much Suzi and Katie. J. L. was laid to rest on June 7th at the Canyonville Masonic Cemetery in Canyonville, Oregon.
