Obituary

"One day I'll be sleepin' when death knocks on my door; and I'll awake to find that I'm not homesick anymore, 'cause I'll be home, I'll be home where I belong." (as sung by B.J. Thomas). Hazel Elaine Wafer, age 75, awoke in the presence of Jesus on Saturday, March 3, 2012, from her residence in Camas Valley, Oregon. She was born January 28, 1937, in Bellflower, California. Hazel was the youngest of three children born to Albert Fenton and Helen Abbie (Whitney) Young. She is preceded in death by the love of her life, Sonny Wafer and her parents. Hazel married her precious husband, Frederick Albert "Sonny" Wafer, on September 11, 1954, and had over 51 joyful years together. They had five children; son, Chip Wafer, daughters, Susan (Mitch) Estrada, Colleen (Bill) Post, Diana (Keith) Kinnan, and Ora Kuhse. Mom lived for her grandchildren; Caleb, Jessica & Katie Wafer, Abbie (Scott) Morris, Kai Post, Krista and Keith (Becky) Kinnan, Israel, Malachi, Ezekiel, Ora Che' Billy Kuhse and Jesie Kuhse-Maly as well as three great-grandsons; Aiden, Peyton, and Tristan. Hazel also leaves her brothers, Herbert (Edie) and Albert (Betsy) Young and a bounty of nieces, nephews, and their families. She had a heart for all children and helped run Kids Camp, taught Good News Club, Vacation Bible School, Sunday School and Jr. Church. Her greatest joy would be that all children know Jesus. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 9, 2012 at 5 p.m. at Wellspring Bible Fellowship, 2245 Kline Street, Roseburg, Oregon. Officiating will be Pastor Mike Lander. Friends may pay their respects on Thursday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Taylor's Family Chapel. Private interment will be at the Civil Bend Pioneer Cemetery in Winston. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to help fund "Ora Kuhse - Kids Camp"; which was a life's work and joy to Mom.
