Age 85, of Winston, Oregon, went to meet his Lord on Thursday, February 28, 2013. He was surrounded by his family, friends, and dedicated pastor Rick McMichael and his wife Sue. Glynn is survived by his wife, of 63 years Darlene; sons: Bryan of Phoenix, AZ; Allyn of Beaverton, OR; daughter, Glynda of Beaverton, OR; and four grandkids, Jason, Scott, Jake, and Brenna Rose; great- grandchildren; and many friends. He was born December 16, 1927, in Tahoka, TX, the son, of Elzy and Ophelia Williams, brother to Thelma and Juanita who preceded him in death. In 1939, Glynn and his parents moved to Sweet Home, Oregon. Upon graduation from high school Glynn volunteered in the U.S. Navy. He was called to active duty in August 1945, just as WW II was ending. In August of 1949, Glynn and Darlene went on a blind date that changed their lives. He met Darlene, fell in love, and married her less than 4 months later on Glynn's 22nd birthday in Sweet Home, OR. They moved to Winston, OR in 1955 where they have lived in the same house until his death. Glynn worked for Roseburg Forest Products and then Farmers Insurance with Mona D's yogurt and popcorn until he retired. During the 1970's Glynn was the voice of Douglas High Trojan football and basketball. Glynn will be remembered for his love of Jesus, strong opinions, stubbornness, sense of humor, and his unrelenting dedication to his wife. His last act of love was to reach out to her and to tell her how much he loved her. Glynn stated clearly "I can't wait to see the Lord!" So dad, we will "meet you on the other side." Memorial service and a potluck to follow will be held Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Westside Christian Church in Roseburg. In honor of Glynn, please wear your cowboy boots and hat if you have them. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Westside Christian Church or Oregon Health & Science University in Portland.
