Glenn Wesley Meacham entered into eternal life on Wednesday, July 24, 2013 at Mercy Medical Center in Roseburg, OR. Born in Monte Vista, CO on October 10, 1931, he graduated from Telluride High School in 1950 after working at the local movie theatre and the ore mines. Glenn enlisted in the U.S. Navy after high school and was a veteran of the Korean War, serving overseas, notably in Korea and Japan. In 1954 he married the love of his life, Maralyn Herrin. He attended San Jose State University where he obtained his Bachelors and Masters Degree in Secondary Education with an Adminstration Credential. Glenn applied his education as a teacher at Clarksburg High School which eventually became Delta High School in Clarksburg, CA. Over 33 years he taught Industrial Arts and coached the JV Boys Basketball team. Eleven years of those were spent as Vice Principal where he treated everyone equally and with respect. Glenn particularly enjoyed teaching drafting and wood shop courses. He approached teaching with enthusiasm and encouraged students to see and reach their full potential. In 1973, Glenn and Maralyn purchased property on Merritt Island in Clarksburg where he planted a vineyard. This Chenin Blanc vineyard was on the the first in the Delta Region of California which today has become a well known area in California for wine grapes. Most of his time away from school was spent working in the vineyard he loved. Utilizing his industrial arts skills, Glenn designed and built a house from the ground up for his family. After retiring from teaching, Glenn and Maralyn sold the vineyard in 1997 and moved to Myrtle Creek, OR to enjoy a milder climate surrounded by mountains and evergreens. While in Oregon, Glenn actively volunteered at the VA Hospital in Roseburg. As a dedicated volunteer, he logged 4,407 hours of service, and enjoyed regular golf outings at the VA course with other volunteers. Glenn was a particularly devoted family man, loved by all, and very popular with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Maralyn Meacham of Myrtle Creek, OR, son Mike (Janet) Meacham of Ft. Bragg, CA, daughter, Gina (Emerson) Schenck of Galt, CA. Preceded in death by his daughter Cynthia Meacham Proctor. Loving brother to Marvin (Janean) Meacham of Helena, MT, Dana Patton of Thornton, CO, Stephen Meacham of Riverton, WY, Eva (Jerry) Canaday of Torrington, WY, Darwin (Dawnette) Meacham of Torrington, WY, David (Renee) Shields of Coaldale, CO. Beloved grandfather to Erin (Brandon) Meacham Kerlee of Spreckles, CA, Shana (Andrew) Meacham Wright of Long Beach, CA, Sheridan (Nichole) Schenck of Lodi, CA, Kayla (Joe) George of Galt, CA, Shelby Schenck of Galt, CA and Wesley Meacham of Ft. Bragg, CA. Great-Grandfather of Ricky, Penny, Parker, Jackson, Frankie, June, Rose, Isabella, Bailey, Clayton, Chance, and Cutter. At his request, there will be no funeral service. He will be interned at Roseburg National Cemetery. Remembrances can be made to The American Heart Association. Glenn touched many lives while here on earth through his years of teaching, volunteering, and time spent with his family. He will be missed but never forgotten.
