Obituary

Georgia Ann Townsend Pendergrass, age 72, went to be with her Lord February 23, 2010. She was born Georgia Ann Townsend to William Clayton and Eva Elizabeth (Lancaster) Townsend in Cottage Gove, Oregon on November 22, 1937. Georgia attended school in Glide, South Deer Creek and Roseburg. She was baptized into the Glide Church of Christ. She married Percy Pendergrass in Sutherlin, Oregon on March 4, 1954. From this union six children were born, Connie, Johnny, Perry, Patty, David and Terri. She also raised her granddaughter Kandy. Percy preceded her in death as the result of an automobile accident, October 10, 1985. Georgia then met Jerry Benson on March 26, 1986 and they have been life mates ever since, sharing their lives and families together. They shared her love of the outdoors, spending their retired years camping, hunting and fishing together. Georgia was preceded in death by her parents, William Clayton Townsend (1911-1994), Eva Elizabeth Townsend (1917-1987) and infant brother Clifford Townsend (1940-1942) and a sister, Donna B. Townsend Neavoll (1936-1978). Georgia is survived by her children: Connie and Don Harris of Bandon, Oregon; John Pendergrass of Roseburg, Perry and Tammy Pendergrass of Cottage Grove, Oregon; Patty Pendergrass of Port Orford, Oregon, David and Laura Pendergrass of Cottage Grove, Oregon; and Terri Pendergrass of Del Rio, Texas; a sister, and brother- in-law, Wanda and Vern Duncan of Roseburg; a brother and sister-in-law, William and Lorraine Townsend of Winston; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and friends. At Georgia's request, no services are planned. She was cremated on February 24, 2010 at Taylor's Family Mortuary in Winston, Oregon. A marker will be placed in the Benson Family Plot at Roseburg Memorial Gardens in Roseburg. Georgia will be remembered to those that loved her by her quick wit and her hunting and fishing stories.
