It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Eugene (Gene) Gary Anderson on December 2, 2017, at the age of 73. He passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones.

Gene was born on January 6, 1944, in Santa Monica, CA, to William (Bill) and Ida Anderson. They later moved to Umpqua, OR, and in 1962, he graduated from Oakland High School.

Gene married Linda S. Faulkner in Reno, NV, in 1968. They were happily married for 49 years.

He was passionate about providing for his family and for his work as a timber cutter. In 1981, he moved to Wyoming, to work as a heavy equipment operator. Soon after, his family joined him. They returned to Roseburg, OR, in 1987.

Gene enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, gardening and photography. He will be affectionately remembered for his unique ability to captivate an audience with his life stories and humor.

He is survived by his wife, Linda S. Anderson; his three daughters, Rhonda Dunker and her husband Robert, West Palm Beach, FL, Jeanine Smith and her husband Bill, Roy, UT, and Suzanne L. Anderson and Joey Iversen, Medford, OR; and his brother, William (Bill) Anderson and his wife Diana, Roseburg, OR. He was blessed with four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Gene is preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Marlene Grantham.

A memorial service will be held Friday, December 22, 2017, at Taylors Family Mortuary, 245 S.W. Main Street, Winston, OR, at 2:00 p.m.
