Eugene Francis Anderson was born Feb. 10, 1930, in Lynch, Nebraska, to Andrew Cornelius and Iola Pearl Derrick Anderson and died Jan. 12, 2026, in Roseburg, Oregon. He moved to Yoncalla, Oregon with his parents and six siblings in the early 1940's and worked most of his life as a millworker in the Yoncalla and Drain area, retiring from Bohemia in 1992. Eugene served in the US Army from Nov. 22, 1950, to May 12, 1952, with most of that time spent in Germany. On Oct. 4, 1953, he married Leota Fay Arzie and they had three children, Allen and Sandra Anderson, who predeceased him, and LaDonna Anderson. Eugene married Laura Cochran Swearingen Long on Feb. 14, 1970, in Drain, Oregon, and they enjoyed 37 years of marriage until her death in 2007. He was also predeceased by his third wife Frances Imogene Neil Anderson and by his brothers: Warren, Lawrence, Raymond and Delwyn Anderson, and his stepson Perry Swearingen.

Eugene was beloved and cherished by his surviving daughter and stepchildren; Diane (Bob) Mattin of Sutherlin; Linda Shaw, Herb (Yvonne) Swearingen, and Raymond Swearingen of Drain, Oregon; Jane Wilson of Molalla, Oregon; Rose Swearingen of Albany, Oregon; Russ (Sonae) Swearingen of Oregon City, Oregon; Dotti (Jeff) Aalberg and Clayton Swearingen of Roseburg, Oregon, and Hank (Marianne) Swearingen of Lawton, Oklahoma. He was a proud papa to 35 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Lillian Williams of Cottage Grove, Oregon, and his brother Russell Anderson.

Eugene was a member of the Drain Assembly of God, Drain Lions Club and VFW until he and Laura moved to Roseburg in 2005. He was a member of the Roseburg Church of God and was a proud member and very active volunteer of the Roseburg VFW and the Roseburg Lions club until his health began to fail in 2021. He made friends wherever he went, loved puzzles, peanut butter, windchimes, building bird houses, collecting pencil sharpeners and miniature cars and most of all, he loved the Lord. His Memorial Service was held on Jan. 17, 2026, at the Drain Assembly of God with interment at the East Drain Cemetery.
