Dorsey E. Hoard, Sr. passed away on December 15, 2010 at the age of 74. He was born in Tampa, Florida to parents Charles and Eva (Joiner) Hoard on August 12, 1936. He was raised in Jacksonville, Florida. He joined the US Navy where he served our country for 22 years. He later worked for 22 years for Northrup Grumman Aerospace, seven of those years were spent in Misawa, Japan working on the E2C Hawkeye Aircraft. He was a Mason, and belonged to the Moose Lodge, the American Legion and the V.F.W. He and Shirley have lived in Winston for the last eight years. Dorsey is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Shirley of Winston, Oregon. He also leaves eight children, Steve, Pam and Dan all of Florida; James and David of Virginia, Jason of Springfield, Oregon, Mark of Corvallis, Oregon and Teresa of Winston. As well as twelve grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Dorsey has a sister Jewel Ryan of Vacaville, California and a brother Spencer of Garland, Texas. He also leaves numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, his twin brother Dell, and two sisters Mary Jane and Jean. Graveside services were held on Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at 11:00 am at the Roseburg National Cemetery in Roseburg, Oregon.
