Don W. Ingwerson, Jr. Donald W. Ingwerson, Jr. age 62 of Winston, Oregon passed away on Friday, June 4, 2010. He was born July 26, 1947 in Artesia, Utah to parents Donald W. and Dorothy (Jares) Ingwerson. At the age of eight, Don moved with his family to Riddle, Oregon, where he graduated from high school in 1965. After high school Don entered the US Army and served two tours in Vietnam. In 1979, he graduated from Umpqua Community College. That same year, on July 8, 1979, he was united in marriage to Dixie Ross in Winston. Winston has been home for many years. Don worked as a surveyor and also worked in the plywood industry. For many years he was a shift manager at Seven Feathers Casino in Canyonville. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Winston VFW. Don enjoyed wood working and was a major Nascar fan. Don also had a Black Belt degree in Karate and taught Karate in Winston. He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Dixie of Winston and his mother Dorothy of Riddle. His children include a son and daughter-in-law John and Sofia Gertson of Hillsboro, Deirdre Ingwerson of Roseburg, Amber-Dawn Ingwerson and Hope Ingwerson both of St. Helens, Oregon. Special family members who considered Don just like a father are Cindy Kemp, Tracy Noble, Kaci and Kayla Freidt. He was also blessed to walk Megan Winter down the aisle when she got married. Don has two brothers, David of Riddle and Richard of Dillard. He also has four sister Patricia Calvert of Roseburg, Phyllis Brown of Dillard, Jeanine Coffey of Riddle, and Jeanette Calvert of Kelso, Washington. Don leaves six grandchildren: David, Ryan, Brandon, Jasmine and Karissa Gertson, and Isabella Ingwerson, many nieces and nephews, and his dog Koma. He was proceded in death by his father Donald W. Ingwerson and brother Joe Ingwerson. Don's legacy will leave a hole in the heart of many, as he was a source of strength, honor, and wisdom for all in need. Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at 12:10 pm at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Inurnment will follow at the Roseburg VA National Cemetery with military rites offered by the VFW District Twelve Honor Guard; afterward a potluck will follow at Don and Dixie's home in Winston.
