Diana Lee
Cox
Feb 26, 1944 — Jan 26, 2016
Diana Lee (King) Cox of Sutherlin, Oregon left her earthly home on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 for a much better place prepared for her by her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Diana was born to Elwin King and Lois (Thompson) King on February 26, 1944 in Hillsdale, Michigan. She spent her early childhood years in Michigan and had lots of joyful memories of her mischievous activities with her many cousins.
After living a few years in Washington State, her family moved to Sutherlin where Diana graduated from high school in 1962. Diana was a member of a well known prize winning drill team that marched in parades at many cities in the western United States.
Diana joined the U.S. Air Force in April 1963 and spent most of her four years at Amarillo, Texas A.F.B. where she worked in very high level Air Force Security. Diana was very excited and pleased to be selected to "sight in" hundreds of 25 caliber rifles for the U.S. Air Force at Amarillo. At the time of her discharge in 1967 she declined an offer of another promotion in rank and a special security position in Washington, D.C. if she would remain in the Air Force.
After receiving her Nursing Degree from Umpqua Community College Diana decided to do private duty nursing. She felt that God had given her a mission to provide nursing care at a very low cost, to low income needy. She did this for many years.
Diana started teaching young children in Sunday School and Children Church while in the U.S. Air Force and continued to do so for over 25 years afterwards at the Assembly of God Church in Sutherlin. Young children were one of the things dear to her heart. Diana was a very active member of the Fair Oaks, Pomona, Oregon State and National Granges for many years. She loved all kinds of wildlife.
Diana married Ray Cox in the Little Log Church, Yachats, Oregon in 1987.
Diana was preceded in death by her parents and stepson David. She is survived by her husband, Ray Cox; stepson Kenneth Cox/wife Anita; stepdaughter Carla Duering/husband Brent; brothers Marten King/wife Tamara, Jim King/wife Virginia, and Bill King; four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; and numerous relatives and friends.
Taylor's Family Mortuary, Winston, Oregon is in charge of funeral arrangements. Services will be held at the New Hope Fellowship Church, Sutherlin, Oregon with Pastor David Bates officiating on Saturday, February 6 th , at 2 p.m. with a graveside ceremony following at Fair Oaks Cemetery, east of Sutherlin.
In lieu of flowers, Diana's request was that memorial contributions be made to the Community Cancer Center, Roseburg, Oregon, Christian Mission Work, or to your favorite charity.
