On April 26, at five am, Darby McCord passed away at the age of 14. She was born in Roseburg, Oregon September 18, 1995 with a heart defect. She was born to happy parents: Jane and Kim McCord. She has been fighting for her life for 14 long years. She attended Glide school district as long as she was physically able and was registered up to this year, but only attending when she was up to it. Darby was known for her smile. She always gave everyone a big beautiful smile, no matter what kind of pain she was in. She was a "friend of Doernbecker Hospital" and she also won their hero award in 2004. She liked Poke'mon, animals, Chinese culture and cooking. She lived a fairly good life; she had two older sisters, Jessica McCord and Amber Hopson. The children of her oldest sister, Amber were often around the house and could be considered siblings as well. Amber had two girls and one boy, Rayshell, Lashanda, and Dewayne Hopson. Darby was well loved by all those she came in contact with. She had a winning and outgoing personality. She was survived by her two sisters, her parents, nieces, nephew, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends. The service will be held Saturday May 1, 2010 at the Glide Middle School Gym and is expected to begin at 5 pm. The memorial service will be officiated by her pastor: Brother Dave Lucas.
