Obituary

Clarence Leroy (Tom) Phillis

Tom Phillis passed away at Chantele's Loving Touch Memory Care on October 9, 2021, at the age of 84, his family at his bedside.

Tom began his life's journey in Maple Hill, Kansas, second son to Silas and Viola Phillis. At an early age, Tom's father moved the family from Kansas to the Pacific Northwest, eventually settling in Dufur Oregon. Following high school, Tom went to Oregon Technical Institute to expand his knowledge in Agricultural Mechanics, which he found so beneficial throughout his life. Tom was drafted into the Army as an Automotive Mechanic following the Korean War and after his honorable discharge, he dived into farming full-time while raising his family.

Farming was Tom's path, and he served this passion all his life, wanting only to "plow his own field with his own tractor on his own land." Grain, hay, and raising calves were his product, along with three sons on his own ranch in eastern Oregon. Tom never really retired from over 60 years of farming, enjoying his trade to the end.

Tom is survived by his first wife Dolores, sons Troy, Tyler, and Trace with their wives Rosalia, Zulfia, and Linnea; six grandchildren Trent, Tara, Layla, Leah, Nash, Clay, countless friends and warm memories.

Goodbye Dad, we already miss you.
