On February 28, 2022, Charles "Chuck" Weakley passed away surrounded in love with his wife Darlene by his side. Chuck was born in 1936 in Riddle, Oregon to John and Fannie Weakley. He was the oldest of four children and had a great love for his siblings. He told many stories about how much he enjoyed growing up with his siblings and many cousins in the small town of Riddle. After graduating from Riddle High School in 1953, Chuck began working in the great outdoors as a logger. In 1960, he joined the Army and then the reserves. After his military service he moved back home and started working at the Hanna Nickel Smelter. In 1967, he married the love of his life, Darlene Pickelsimer, and they were happily married for 54 years. They had two children together, Angie and John.  While raising their two children, Chuck served as a volunteer member for the Riddle Fire Department. He enjoyed a simple life with his family and exploring the beautiful outdoors, fishing, hunting, bowling, baking, gardening and dancing. Of all of the things he loved, he loved his family the most. Chuck retired in 1998 as a Foreman at Hanna Nickel Smelter and he often said that after he retired is when he began his "favorite job", which was being a grandfather.  In 2000, his first two grandchildren were born and when they were just weeks old, he spent 10 hours a day babysitting the two infants, and he often joked that he was working harder than everyone else, while taking care of two babies.  As his family continued to grow, he was blessed with three more grandkids and as they got older he spent most of his days playing with them, taking them on daily walks, teaching them how to ride a bike, driving them to school and cooking them treats and meals. He remained physically active throughout his life and as the grandchildren got older, he made a point to attend as many school events that spotlighted them as possible. When he wasn't taking care of his family he was taking care of his dogs, Sugar and Kash which he loved very much. Chuck was very selfless, he would always make sure everyone around him was taken care of and he would never complain, except maybe when you would hear him say firmly, "C'mon just have one more cookie!"  Chuck had a smile that would brighten anyone's day, and he never met a stranger.

Moving forward his love and memory will be reflected by his family: Wife, Darlene Weakley; Children, Angie (Chris) Griffin and John (Shantelle) Weakley; five grandchildren, Logan, Breanna, Hayley, Hannah and Matthew; Sister Carla Willbanks and brother Claude (Mary) Weakley as well as many beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his father John Weakley, mother Fannie (Rigsby) Weakley and brother Curtis Weakley.

Chuck will be deeply missed and will always be in our hearts. In keeping within his wishes, the family is celebrating his life privately.  Taylor's Mortuary in Winston, Oregon is handling arrangements.
