Obituary

Carol Ann (Sperber) Love Carol died Thursday, April 9, 2015 at 11:30 pm in the presence of family. Born November 20, 1938 in St. Maries, Idaho, Carol grew up with her parents and siblings until they lived in Klamath Falls during WWII. After that, she moved to Roseburg to live with her grandparents, Earl and Lena Woodruff. Carol graduated from Roseburg H.S. in 1957, where she was voted "Wittiest Girl". She lived in Roseburg most of her adult life, save for a nine year sojourn in Roanoke, VA where her husband worked at the VA Hospital and where her children were born. Carol was a lifelong member of the Christian Churches of Roseburg, OR. In the 50s, her grandfather, Earl Woodruff, helped build the Westside Christian Church, and Carol became a member upon her return from Virginia. In later years, after the children left for college, she and Joe rejoined the First Christian Church, where she remained. During her time at Westside, she was actively involved in the music ministry and contributed her fine cooking to many a potluck. For twenty years, Carol worked in medical transcription at Mercy Hospital. She will be remembered for her warmth, sense of humor and beautiful contralto voice. She married Joseph Arthur Love, June 25, 1960 and had 45 years of marriage until his death on January 3, 2006. She is survived by her children, Joseph E. Love (Lisa) and their children Alexander and Hannah, of Omak, WA and Lenee L. Love (Todd E. Gray) and their children, Megan Carter (Riley) and Michael Gray. Also surviving are her brother Stephen E. Sperber (Mary) of Coeur d'Alene, ID, her sister Gloria L. Holden, also of Roseburg, and her sister-in-law and her husband, Dorothy & Jim McDermott of Lynchburg, VA. Nephews include Edward W. Lynn, Jr. (Elizabeth; Amanda, Dakota, Sybil, Olivia & Zoe) of Frenchtown, MT; Timothy N. Sperber (Michelle; Samantha & Dillon) of Genesee, ID; and Steven M. Holden of San Francisco, CA. She is predeceased by her brother, Christopher Malcolm Sperber, and nephew, Brandon C. Sperber (Tamara; Sophia & Amelia). In Lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to The First Christian Church music fund in Memory of Carol Love. A memorial will be held Saturday, April 18, 2015 at 1:00 pm at the First Christian Church, 432 SE Kane, Roseburg.
