Obituary

Carmine "Mike" De Micco age 83 of Roseburg, Oregon, passed away Friday, January 13, 2012 at the age of 83. He was born in the Bronx, New York on September 17, 1928 to parents Michael and Adele (Moresi) De Micco. He was raised in the Throgs Neck section of the Bronx and graduated from Cardinal Hayes High School in 1946. Mike served our country in the US Army during the occupation of Japan. After returning from the service he attended New York University and graduated in 1954 with a Bachelorof Civil Engineeringdegree. He earned his Professional Engineering License in 1959. He was employed by the New York City Bureau of Water Supply from 1954 until his retirement in 1986. He was an engineering project manager on New York City Water Tunnel # 3, a massive construction project that began in 1970 and is estimated to be completed in 2020. When fully operational Tunnel # 3 will deliver water over 60 miles from reservoirs to the city and allow inspection and repair of water tunnels built in 1917 and 1936.Mike was a resident of Peekskill, New York from 1960 until 1986. He spent the next 14 years in California, followed by 11 years in Oregon. Mike is preceded in death by his parents Michael A. De Micco and Adele (Moresi) De Micco of the Bronx and Peekskill, New York and younger brother Emil De Micco of Irvington, New York. He is survived by his wife Diane De Micco, four children and five grandchildren from his prior marriage to Anna Lagalante: son, Michael De Micco of Antioch, California, his wife Carol and their son Daniel; daughter, Carla Angelo of Belle Mead, New Jersey, her husband Michael and sons James and Matthew; son, Paul De Micco of Yorktown Heights, New York, his wife Elizabeth and children Jessica and Joseph; son, Thomas De Micco of Bronxville, New York. A recitation of the Holy Rosary will be held at Taylor's Family Chapel in Winston, Oregon on Tuesday, January 17, 2012 at 5:00 pm.
