Carl Richard Grace 84 years old passed from this life to life everlasting on Tuesday June 29 at his home in Tenmile, Oregon. Carl was born on September 21, 1925 in Fort Des Moines, Iowa, where he lived until he joined the Navy at age 17. Carl served in the US Navy on the USS Yorktown and the USS Princeton for 20 years. After his retirement at age 37 from the navy Carl worked as a laborer and belonged to Local 270. Carl loved his home in Tenmile, Oregon and enjoyed taking care of things around the house inside and out, building, repairing, and just being a Jack of all Trades. When his family or friends were ever in need Carl was always there to help out. Carl loved keeping his family entertained by telling the stories of his Navy days and days of working as a civilian. One of Carl's favorite things to do in his leisure time was to keep up with current affairs and news on Fox News. Carl you will be sadly missed by all of us. Carl is preceded in death by his parents Thomas J. Grace and Robina Bayne, and siblings Martha Contri, Madge Evans, Ruth Champion, Marie Hodge; and daughter April Ann Thomas. Carl is survived by his wife of 31 years Geneva Murphy Grace and step children, Richard Murphy and Pamela Murphy, Mike Murphy, Patricia Thomas, Beverly and Wayne Truesdale, Kathy and Mickey Short, Anita and Michael Mitchell, Tim Murphy, Dee Dee and Randy Wenks, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Carl is also survived by daughter Geralyn Grace and step son Ted Stanton. Visitation at Taylor's Family Mortuary in Winston, Oregon. 8:00 - 10:00 A.M. Monday July 5, 2010 Military honors ceremony will be graveside at Tenmile cemetery, Monday, July 5, at 11:00 AM Reception following service at Green Community Church.
