Bernice Minnie Ebert February 27, 1919 - May 29, 2011 Bernice Minnie Ebert, 92, of Roseburg, died on May 29, 2011. She had been a resident of Roseburg since 1950. She was born in Dallas, Oregon, to Cornelius and Martha Buhler. After high school she moved to Salem to work as a secretary for the Federal Land Bank. In 1941, Bernice met her husband, Arnold, at the Oregon State Fair. They were married on May 25, 1942, in Pacific Grove, CA, shortly before he left to serve in WWII. Upon his return, Bernice and Arnold lived in Dallas and started their family with the birth of their son. After moving to Roseburg, Bernice had two more children. Later, Bernice decided to attend Umpqua Community College and graduated as a nurse in 1969. She worked at Douglas Community Hospital (two yrs) and later at the VA Hospital (eleven yrs). In 1982, Bernice began enjoying her retirement. She enjoyed her children and grandchildren and traveled the world extensively with her husband. Bernice was very involved with the quilters sponsored at her church and was a master seamstress and upholsterer which included award-winning designs of Arabian costumes for horse shows. Survivors include her daughters, Janice Ebert-Dix of Fairfax, VA; Carol (Ebert) Wilson of Roseburg; her son, Richard Ebert of Pleasant Hill; five grandchildren, one great grandson; four brothers and one sister. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, June 3, at Faith Lutheran Church 820 W Kenwood St., Roseburg.
