Bennie W. Astry, 91, July 3, 1931 – Jan. 26, 2023, born in Whitmore, Michigan, to Leslie and Harriett Astry. He spent his childhood in Effie, Minnesota, then moved to Oregon in 1949 where he married June Meyer in June of 1952.
He served in the army from 1953 – 1955. He retired from Roseburg Forest Products after 42 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and three sisters. He is survived by his wife June of 70 years, three daughters: Tina (Doug) Schattenkerk, Kim Astry (Sheila), Jody (Scott) Albertus, five grandkids: Stacy, Rodney, Kerry, Jenny B., Dallas, and 10 great grandkids.
He loved his family, and his grandkids and great-grandkids were the apples of his eye. He also enjoyed going camping and spending quality time with his kids. He was a very simple man.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
