Adele T. Schroeder of Roseburg, Oregon, passed away on Monday, May 23, 2011 at the age of 86. She was born on October 2, 1924 in Tel City, Indiana, daughter of Achilles and Freda (Kopf) Meyer. Her mother died at an early age and Mr. Meyer married Betty who helped raise and educate Adele and her four siblings. Adele was united in marriage to Ralph Schroeder on June 28, 1946 in Detroit, Michigan. The family lived in Detroit until moving to Chicago in 1969 to make their home. Adele worked for many years as secretary for Commerce Clearing House. She enjoyed the fellowship of the Church Of Christ in Chicago and later the United Methodist Church in Roseburg, where she sang in the choir. She also enjoyed reading. She is survived by a son William 'Bill' Schroeder of Urbane, Illinois and a daughter in-law, Lauren Schroeder of Roseburg. She also leave two grandchildren, Kayla Schroeder of Roseburg and Skyler Schroeder of Corvallis. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph and a son Richard. She will be laid to rest next to her husband at Roseland Park Cemetery in Berkley, Michigan. Memorial donations in Adele's name can be made to the First United Methodist Church in Roseburg.
