A. Leon Chaboude Loving Husband, Daddy, Papa and Grand Papa of Winston, Oregon, passed away on September 11, 2011, at home surrounded by his loving family, where he walked into the loving arms of Jesus. He was born December 13, 1946, in Los Angeles, CA, to Clarence and Florence (Payne) Chaboude. They moved to Oregon in 1950 where he grew up. He graduated from Roseburg High School in 1965. He joined the US Navy in March of 1966; he served on the USS Caddo Parish during the Vietnam War. Leon was awarded National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, and Vietnam Campaign Medal with Device. He was honorably discharged in December 1968. Leon returned to Roseburg and married the love of his life and best friend, Norma Sigler, on May 5th, 1970. Leon and Norma moved to Winston, Oregon, where they raised their two daughters. He had many hobbies, of which his favorites were, hunting, fishing, gold mining, spending time with his family, and friends. Leon worked for Roseburg Forrest Products for thirty years before his medical retirement. Leon also worked at the Surplus Center, the VA, and co-owned String and Iron Archery with his best friend, Kenny Long. The family moved to Denver in 1974 for three years, where he attended Gun Smith School and worked at a printing company with his childhood friend, Richard Paige. Even with the diagnosis of his esophageal cancer, Leon had a zest for life and continually amazed his family and friends with his strength, courage, and faith. Leon is survived by his loving wife Norma of 41 years, daughters, Traci (David) Bittner of Newberg, OR, Darci (Russ) Robison of Roseburg, OR. Six Angel Babies, Brytani (Andrew) Weber, Kelsea Bittner, Taylor Bittner, Rhyker Robison, DeMyah Robison. Two Great Angel Babies, Shelby Jo Weber and Marleigh Jo Bittner, and "adopted" family, Jamie, Shane, Dusty and Nathan Miller. Loyal companions, Teddi and TJ, along with numerous family members, extended family and friends. Leon is preceded in death by his parents, his special Gramps, Sherm Harris, two brothers, a sister, his brother in Christ and best friend, Kenny Long. A Celebration of Life will be held September 24th, at 1:00pm at Vine Street Baptist Church in Roseburg, Ore. "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the Faith."
